With over ten years of experience, we've learned that green office cleaning is not just about using eco-labeled products. It’s a comprehensive mindset with several essential pillars — from how waste is handled to how trash liners are used to what kind of cleaning supplies are selected. When done right, a lot can be achieved — together with our clients — to make an office more environmentally responsible.

1. Selective Waste Collection and Proper Disposal

Reducing waste and selective recycling are now essential parts of sustainable operation — responsibilities that primarily fall to our clients, but ones we actively support.

Beyond the usual collection of paper and plastic waste, special types generated in the office or during commercial cleaning — such as batteries and other electronic waste — require proper handling, even if only small amounts are produced. For our clients in Budapest, we can arrange the transport of such waste since our warehouse is located close to the FKF Recycling and Waste Disposal Center on Károlyi Sándor Street. For smaller offices, we’re often able to handle these small quantities free of charge.

As a cleaning company, we also pay attention to reducing waste and supporting selective recycling. Waste produced during cleaning — such as empty detergent bottles and packaging — is always collected separately, and where possible, we extend the lifespan of our cleaning materials. For example, microfiber cloths that become worn during regular office cleaning are reused for deep-cleaning tasks, further reducing environmental impact.

2. Trash Bin and Liner Use

Plastic is one of the most versatile yet environmentally harmful materials — and unfortunately, most trash liners are still made of plastic, even if recycled. One of the easiest ways to reduce the plastic footprint of janitorial services is simply to reduce how many liners are used. This can be achieved by:

Placing fewer bins around the office (e.g., only in common areas),
Using no liners at all in bins that collect only paper waste,
Switching to biodegradable liners (in addition to reducing the number of liners used)

When plastic liners are used, we aim to:

Choose the thinnest and lightest options that still do the job,
Replace them only when necessary — for instance, if food waste was disposed of.

3. Eco-Friendly Cleaning Products

As an eco-friendly cleaning company, we use only EU Ecolabel-certified cleaning products for our daily and weekly cleaning services.

We have carefully selected cleaning agents for eco-friendly office cleaning that are both proven effective and come from reliable suppliers. Most of the eco-friendly products we use are manufactured in Germany, either by well-known brands or as private-label products made under strict regulatory conditions and distributed in multiple countries — ensuring consistently high quality.

In some cases, traditional ingredients still have a place in modern commercial cleaning: for example, we always descale kettles using simple vinegar or citric acid, which are also the base ingredients in many eco-certified descalers.

There are still a few specialized cleaning tasks — such as deep carpet cleaning — that require products not (yet) available with an eco-label. However, these are the exception. In our regular cleaning routines, nearly 100% of our supplies are certified eco-friendly.

4. Sustainable Refill Supplies and Dispensers

Paper towels, liquid soap, and toilet paper also have a significant environmental impact — which is why we prefer supplies that:

Come in recycled packaging,
Are made from recycled materials,
Carry EU Ecolabel or other eco-friendly certifications (e.g., FSC).

Another important consideration is that the chosen dispenser should help optimize usage. Most mini jumbo toilet paper dispensers can only hold one roll at a time, and the partially used roll often has to be replaced before it’s fully used, resulting in unnecessary waste. Some manufacturers offer dispensers that allow the started roll to remain in use alongside a new one, ensuring that the toilet paper is fully utilized.
